This figure is based on the number of works accessioned by the IMA since January 1, 2011.

EXPLANATION
The IMA maintains a Permanent Collection, Study Collection, Miller House and Garden Collection, and Lilly House Collection. These collections are continuously evaluated to identify areas to strengthen and to ensure works acquired are consistent with the mission of the Museum and guided by the plans of the appropriate curatorial department.

The Indianapolis Museum of Art created the Web site ArtBabble.org as a place where everyone is invited to join an open, ongoing discussion about art. It is intended to showcase video art content in high quality format from a variety of sources and perspectives. Partners whose videos are featured on ArtBabble include MOMA New York & San Francisco, Art21, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The New York Public Library, and The Smithsonian American Art Museum.

DESCRIPTION
The Indianapolis Museum of Art is committed to using technology as a means to engage our visitors in new ways. Special Web Presences, including Web sites and online technology initiatives, provide another platform for connecting new audiences to art. In addition, the Web allows the IMA to reach audiences throughout the world, 24 hours a day/seven days a week.

DESCRIPTION
The IMA's volunteers are essential to the operation of the Museum. Each year, volunteers provided important support to our education, horticulture, development and visitor services departments amongst others. Since the beginning of 2008, 508 volunteers have generously donated their time to the IMA.

Total volunteer hours are interpreted as "in-kind" contributions for grant proposals and other overall assessments of the Museum's operations.

DESCRIPTION
Guided tours of the IMA galleries are available to educational groups (universities, preschools, after-school programs, home school groups and traditional classrooms) for grades preschool and up. Tours are free of charge if scheduled at least three weeks in advance. These tours are conducted by professionally trained volunteer educators (docents) who are specifically assigned to the tour.
